Our History

The Continuing Education Program in Sooke School District was reinstated in 1986.

In 1997, the program established its own “home base” on the campus of Royal Roads University, and at that time the name changed to Community Education, to reflect the youth and adult entrepreneurship programs offered in partnership with Community groups such as the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Royal Roads University, Camosun College and funding support from Human Resources Development Canada.

In the spring of 2003, another name change occurred as a result of a strategic planning process. The name, The WestShore Centre for Learning and Training, reflects the desire to be the hub of learning at the WestShore. In partnership with other groups, such as Royal Roads University, we hope the community will look to this campus for all of their learning and training needs.
