Teaching Assistant Certificate Program

The Teaching Assistant Certificate Program (TACP) prepares students for a variety of para-professional duties in schools. Education Assistants (EA's), Teaching Assistants (TAs) & Special Student Assistants (SSAs) work with pupils from K to grade 12 providing support with physical, learning, or emotional needs. Under the direction of a teacher, TAs & SSAs perform diverse duties including coaching in basic subjects, preparing specialized teaching materials, meeting pupils’ special physical needs, and maintaining progress records. Both theoretical studies and practical applications of the role of the para-professional in the school system are covered.
